Originally a multichannel soundscape realised as part of Ana Cvorovic's Borders Unfold exhibition, installed at Pi Artworks Gallery, London 28 September - 26 October 2019.
In the gallery space, the sound was reproduced using a discrete hexaphonic surround speaker setup (6 speakers) and 2 floor-standing sub speakers. The sound installation was designed to be invisible and embedded within the 'room tone', and the elements were positioned so as to create a 3D effect wherever visitors stood.
Abstract about the soundscape taken from Ana's Instagram: As the textures undulate and orbit one another, they fall in and out of alignment, bringing with them the feelings of places and moments, before taking them away again. There is a warm, fragile resonance suspended at its core, often submerged in the waves, and accompanied by spirits of memory and communication, before a series of sparks sets the cycles in motion again.
The soundscape is made from recordings Ana captured during an artist residency in Utica, NY.
The version you are hearing on this site has been mixed down for stereo speakers, but it is the full length mix that can be heard in the gallery.
